Care Boundaries & Scope

Clear Boundaries Support Safe Care

At Kindred, care is offered with intention, respect, and clarity.

Boundaries are not barriers — they are what allow care to feel safe, ethical, and sustainable for everyone involved. This page exists to ensure expectations are clear and care relationships remain grounded and respectful.

What Kindred Provides

Kindred offers non-medical, in-home support centered on presence, dignity, and whole-person care.

Support may include:

  • Companionship and grounding presence
  • Emotional steadiness during difficult seasons
  • Light household support
  • Help with routines and daily rhythms
  • Support during life transitions, burnout, aging, or recovery

Care is collaborative, consent-based, and always adapted to individual needs.

What Kindred Does Not Provide

To protect both clients and caregiver, Kindred does not provide:

  • Medical, nursing, or clinical care
  • Therapy, counseling, or psychiatric services
  • Diagnosis, treatment, or medical decision-making
  • Emergency or crisis intervention
  • Medication administration or medical procedures
  • Personal care tasks requiring clinical training

Kindred is not a substitute for medical, therapeutic, or emergency services.

Emotional & Relational Boundaries

Care at Kindred is warm, relational, and human — while still maintaining clear professional boundaries.

This means:

  • Care is supportive, not dependent
  • Emotional presence is offered without replacing other supports
  • Clients are encouraged to maintain connections with family, friends, and professionals
  • Care relationships remain respectful, appropriate, and time-bound

Boundaries help ensure care remains steady, ethical, and beneficial.

Safety & Crisis Situations

Kindred is not equipped to respond to emergencies or crisis situations.

If there is immediate risk of harm to self or others, emergency services should be contacted right away by the client, family member, or responsible party.

When appropriate, Kindred may encourage connection to:

Medical providers Mental health professionals Hospice or palliative care teams Community or crisis resources

This is done with care and respect, not judgment.

Consent, Autonomy & Respect

Care is always:

  • Consent-based
  • Collaborative
  • Respectful of autonomy and personal boundaries

Clients may pause, adjust, or discontinue care at any time. Kindred also reserves the right to decline or discontinue care if requests fall outside scope or if safety or alignment cannot be maintained.

Scheduling, Time & Scope

Care is provided within agreed-upon hours and scope

Requests outside scope will be discussed openly

Boundaries around time, tasks, and availability are honored

Clear communication helps care remain calm and sustainable.

A Shared Responsibility

Kindred works best when care is mutual — built on honesty, respect, and shared understanding.

Boundaries exist to:

  • Protect emotional and physical safety
  • Support sustainable care
  • Preserve trust and clarity
  • Ensure care remains grounded and ethical

A Closing Note

Boundaries are part of care.

They allow Kindred to show up with steadiness, presence, and compassion — without burnout, confusion, or harm.

If you have questions about scope or boundaries, you’re always welcome to ask. Clarity is a form of care.
